MACBOR makes its team debut at the 2027 Dakar Rally with Gerard Farrés

From 1 to 15 January 2027, MACBOR enters the Dakar Rally’s motorcycle category as a team for the first time, alongside Gerard Farrés, a rider with extensive rally raid experience.

After several years backing Gerard Farrés as a sponsor of his Dakar campaigns, Spanish brand MACBOR is taking the next step and entering as a team for the first time. To prepare for its debut, it will first compete in two events in Morocco: the 1000 Dunas Raid and the Addax Rally.

Morocco: the proving ground for Dakar 2027

Ahead of January’s challenge, the MACBOR team will take on two events in Morocco that will give it valuable experience in the kind of terrain and conditions it will face at the Dakar:

• 1000 Dunas Rally 2026: six stages across the Moroccan desert between Fez and Merzouga, combining navigation with highly varied terrain. An ideal opportunity to fine-tune preparations for a long-distance event.
• Addax Rally (25 to 30 October 2026, Merzouga): around 1,600 kilometres of sandy stages, rocky tracks and sections around the Erg Chebbi dunes. The event will allow the team to work on roadbook navigation, one of Farrés’s specialities.

More than a race: a commitment to international expansion

MACBOR’s presence at the Dakar, together with its fourth consecutive year at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, underlines the brand’s commitment to expanding internationally.

MACBOR is now present in fifteen European countries. Alongside its most established markets (Spain, France and Portugal), it has added others this year, including the Benelux countries, Poland, Switzerland and the Baltic states.

Against this backdrop, the Dakar offers a chance to take the brand’s growth beyond its core markets. And it does so with values that are its own: a spirit of perseverance, constant evolution and a desire to explore new paths.

Motos Bordoy Group and the Dakar: a long-standing relationship

MACBOR’s participation in Dakar 2027 continues the long relationship between Motos Bordoy Group, the company that owns MACBOR, and the world’s most famous rally.

In recent years, the group has sponsored Gerard Farrés in the Side-by-Side category. Since the 1990s, it has also supported the sporting projects of leading Spanish figures such as Marc Coma, Jordi Arcarons or Carlos Mas, among others. This track record places MACBOR’s latest move within a lasting relationship with the sport and with those who embody its values.

Gerard Farrés and MACBOR: a solid bond

The partnership with Gerard Farrés is the result of a relationship built over many years. A MACBOR ambassador and one of the best-known names in rally raid, Farrés boasts one of the most complete track records at the Dakar, with 19 starts to his name.

In the motorcycle category, he finished on the podium in 2017, and in Side-by-Side he took second place in 2022. He is, in short, the ideal partner for this new chapter in the brand’s story.

Now it’s time to prove it on the dunes. For MACBOR, Dakar 2027 is, in the brand’s own words, a “very special adventure”. And it’s only just getting started.
